Synopsis
Banaz was five years old when she was circumcised. Now 25, she is a talented student in the painting department at the College of Fine Arts. She is preparing an exhibition of her paintings. Zhiyan, Banaz’s close friend, works in the company office of a wealthy businessman and tries to secure a sponsorship from him for the exhibition. One evening while working, Banaz is sexually assaulted by a security guard who had been constantly watching her. Zhiyan’s wealthy manager uses the sponsorship request as a pretext to get close to her, but Zhiyan resists, and the problems deepen. Banaz and Zhiyan remain close friends, standing together to overcome the circumstances they have fallen into.

Director's Bio
Trifa Ibrahim Hasan, originally from Silêmanî, holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in philosophy and one in filmmaking. In 2026, she wrote and directed her first independent short film, Zarand. which explores nearly five thousand years of women’s history through a feminine perspective. She focuses on women’s voices, cultural memory, influence of patriarchy, political and socially meaningful storytelling as part of the emerging generation of Kurdish filmmakers. She is also the founder of the Marziya Organization, a cultural and artistic initiative dedicated to reviving, preserving, and developing authentic Kurdish art and cultural heritage.
