Mikail grew up in a strictly traditional family with a schizophrenic father. His mother has been  his father’s second wife since the age of 14 and suffers under that patriarchal structure. Mikail fled that situation, and now at 37, he runs an unusual café called Eskici. There, looking like a madman or a dervish, he creates the world where he wants to live, attracting people with his style but also frightening them. He dreams of opening a boutique hotel on the edge of Lake Van where his mother can live in peace and forget all she went through. The documentary examines the effects of a patriarchal, nationalist-conservative society and family on a person’s life and psychology.
