"Dereng" by Yahhya

Kurdish musician Yahhya recently released his first studio album, titled Dereng, meaning, in his words, “It’s never too late for anything.”

In his ANF interview, he speaks of the “many unspoken words and stories in our land, culture, people, hopes and despairs.” For Yahhya, a guitarist and singer, music is “a harbor for me to take refuge in, longing for the past, forgotten loves, learning to give up, questioning.”

He expresses satisfaction that with the guitar he is “able to capture the harmony of traditional and modern music.”
