"Evîna Kurd"
In January 2023 the Rojava Film Commune completed its second TV series, Evîna Kurd. It explores the social changes in northeastern Syria in the wake of the Rojava Revolution. It follows the life of a family involved in self-organizing communes and cooperatives in 2017 and 2018. The family’s roots date back to the era of the Sheikh Said revolt in 1925.

The production crew was organized nonhierarchically; the actors, screenwriters, directors and set workers collaborated on an equal basis.
Shooting started in May 2022 in Derik, but it was interrupted by the attacks and threats of the Turkish state. The crew had to tear down their set several times and move to other areas, including Hasakah and Qamislo.
