Synopsis:
In 1990s Turkey, under the state of emergency, certain Kurdish newspapers were barred from distribution in the Diyarbakir region. That was true even for legal papers like Özgur Ülke. Children like Bawer and Hebûn were part of an illicit distribution group. They would secretly pick up the newspapers at a location outside the city, then bring them into the city. There the children would change their clothes and distribute them, under the guise of doing other work. But they were constantly followed by those who regarded the newspaper as dangerous and wanted to prevent its dissemination. Çerx is a testament to the conditions under which these newspapers were distributed and the difficulties encountered.

Director’s biography:
Metîn Ewr was born in Diyarbakır in 1978. He worked in theater, literature, and language in Adana. He started his cinema education in Diyarbakır, where he returned in 2010. He continues his cinema education at the Middle East Cinema Academy Association. Çerx is his debut as a director
