The Wedding

Synopsis: 

In October 2019 the city of Serekaniye is threatened by war. Gulê, a young Kurdish woman, is planning her long-dreamed-of wedding. But when Turkish bombs hit the city, she flees. On the road, she meets Barin, whose wedding was interrupted. Then in a school converted into a shelter for refugees, Gulê meets Nazê, with whom she shares a broken dream.

 

Director’s biography: 

Sevinaz Evdike was born 1992 in Serekaniye, Rojava. She studied film directing at the Cigerxwin Academy in Diyarbakir, Turkey. She served as co-director of the Rojava Film Commune (Komina Film a Rojava). She now works as coordinator for the Kezi women film collective in Rojava. She co-founded the Rojava Film Festival. The Wedding Parade is her first feature film.
