Mîrza Metîn, Kurdish Playwright

Mîrza Metîn, born in Kars in 1980, is an actor, dramaturg, and playwright.

He grew up in Istanbul and studied acting at the Mezopotamya Culture Center and at Seyrî Mesel Theater. In 2008 he cofounded Sermola Performans in Istanbul. He has performed in numerous stage productions and been awarded many prizes.

He has written seventeen plays, some of which have been translated into Zazaki, Turkish, German, English, French, and Hungarian. He is the Kurdish Committee coordinator for Eurodram, the European Network for Drama in Translation, and he is the founding editor of the theater magazine Dialog.  

Metîn sees theater as a ritual form and in which the physical interaction of actor and audience is paramount. Visit his website.
