Six nights after the devastating earthquakes of February 6, rescuers found the bodies of musician Zilan Tigris and her actor partner Çağdaş Cankaya in the rubble in Diyarbakir. They died from cold when a nine-story building collapsed.
Tigris sang in 10 languages, mostly Armenian and Kurdish.

The New York Kurdish Cultural Center, established in 2017, seeks to nurture and showcase Kurdish contributions to the visual and performing arts, cinema, and literature.
