"Peshmerga" screenings, February 1 & 2

Peshmerga posterIn 2015, French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy traveled to the front lines of ISIS, seeking first-hand understanding of the ongoing conflict. With unprecedented access and disarming immediacy, Lévy and a small team of cameramen journey across the 650 miles separating Iraqi Kurdistan from ISIS troops. The Kurdish fighters he encounters share unforgettable stories and show unfailing determination in their fight against jihadi fundamentalism. The film was released in 2016.

Now, ten years later, with the recent collapse of the Assad regime, new leadership in Syria and a rapidly shifting Middle East landscape, the war against ISIS still rages and the Kurds are, more than ever, on the front line of this fight for freedom.

Lévy’s Peshmerga is an unprecedented view of a war whose stakes are of global importance, and a reminder why the Kurds still need international support.

In Kurdish, Arabic, English and French with English subtitles. These screenings are held in partnership with Justice for Kurds.
