Synopsis<\/strong><\/p>

In western Iran, job opportunities are limited, so people frequently have no option but to become kolbars, or smugglers. More than 20,000 men, women, and children do this work. Every day they carry legal trade goods over 30 km of arduous mountain passes from Iran to the KRG, a dangerous and exhausting journey. They carry weights of 30 kilos and more, for which they earn only about 16 dollars. Many kolbars have been shot by Iranian border guards. In 2022 alone, 45 kolbars were killed and 172 were injured.<\/span><\/p>

Kahi Ahmed Titab graduated from Bahcesehir University in Istanbul with a degree in cinema and television. He is a documentary filmmaker.
