Synopsis<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>

Documentarian Deniz Gunduz visits his parents’ remote Kurdish village in \u00c7i\u00e7ekli K\u00f6y, Batman. He comes here every year to help them with the annual grape harvest and molasses making. While there, he savors the joy and solitude of a simpler way of life, and listens to his family and neighbors reflect on life and death.<\/span><\/p>

\"DenizDirector’s biogroaphy:<\/strong><\/p>

Deniz Gunduz was born in Batman\/Gerc\u00fc\u015f, Bakur (Turkish Kurdistan), and grew up in Istanbul. He hosted the first Kurdish-language radio program in Turkey; he directed live broadcasts and produced digital content. Currently living in New York, he is a documentary filmmaker, visual storyteller, and photographer who explores culture, identity, and human connection. He \u00a0has managed social media accounts and created visual stories that document the New Yorkers using black-and-white street photography; he is now working on his first photobook. Sweet Homeland, filmed in his native Kurdish village, shows its quiet lifeways and explores themes of faith, family, and tradition.<\/p>
