Background<\/strong>:<\/p>

In Iran, since the Islamic Revolution, says director Mirabbas Khosravinezhad, the ruling mullahs separated girls and boys as much as possible. \u201cGirls and boys are not allowed to talk to each other freely and are not allowed to be friends in society. They attend separate schools, sit separately in buses and subways.\u201d Islamic society tries to prevent relationships from developing, so lovers must meet secretly\u2014if they can even find a secret way. In small villages, the problem is acute, because most people know each other, and lovers have few places to meet outside prying eyes. Attempts to meet often lead to problems for the lovers, to violence between their families, and even to their arrests<\/span><\/p>

Synopsis:<\/strong><\/p>

Parvin is a teenage girl who lives with her family in a small village. She works hard, but they have no sympathy for her. She has a secret boyfriend, Iman, who is also a neighbor. One morning, after her family has gone out, she summons Iman for a visit. Just as they are dancing together in her home, they hear her family returning. Parvin hides Iman. As the family go about their daily tasks, she watches for the right moment when he can escape.<\/span><\/p>

Mirabbas Khosravinezhad was born in 1977 in Khorramabad, Rojhelat (East Kurdistan). He holds a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduating in 2000, he became a director and a scriptwriter. That year he made his first short narrative film, Khorram<\/em>. Since then he has directed nine independent short narrative films. Parvin is his first feature-length film.<\/p>
