Based in Qamislo, the group works on Kurdish history, literature, and language.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kurds are among ancient peoples of Mesopotamia, they explained to NYKCC in an interview in November 2023. \u201cWe want to work with Kurds as a people with a great and rich history.\u201d Concerned with cultural preservation, the group believes that Rojava\u2019s many historical monuments need to be studied, preserved, and restored.<\/p><p>To celebrate the NYKCC&#8217;s 2024 edition of Kurdish Heritage Month, the group produced this video to introduce themselves to you.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The association seeks \u201cto lay the intellectual foundations and establish the infrastructure for Kurdish cultural independence in the artistic, literary and critical fields, by raising awareness of identity and collective rights, preserving the Kurdish language as a basic component of identity and ensuring access to its knowledge, and providing a communicative space for knowledge exchange and production.\u201d They further seek to develop initiative-taking youth, educated and aware of its identity and its societal role.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are working on a historical documentary about the ancient Hurrian people, about their culture and history and lifeways. They are focusing on the two main historical sites, Mozan and Labada in ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/urkesh.org\/urkesh_at_a_glance\/en.htm\">Urkesh<\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They wish to build communication and cooperation with Kurds in all parts of Kurdistan and in the diaspora.
