He was 68 years old.<\/p><p>He was born Beytullah G\u00fcneri in 1955 in the Silvan (Farq\u00een) district of Diyarbak\u0131r.<\/p><p>After the military coup on 12 September 1980, he was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He spent 6.5 years in prison, then was released in 1987.<\/p><p>In 1990, he released his first album. In 1991, he emigrated to Sweden. &#8220;I didn&#8217;t flee my country, they forced me,&#8221; he has said. &#8220;My friend Ahmet Kaya didn&#8217;t flee either, they forced him too. Otherwise, why would anyone flee their country?&#8221;<\/p><p>His albums included:<br \/><em>B\u00eest \u00fb Yek\u00ea Adar\u00ea<\/em> (March 21) <br \/><em>Ax\u00eenate nal\u00eenamin<\/em> (Your sigh, my cry), <br \/><em>Te nadin min<\/em> (They don&#8217;t let me have you) <br \/><em>Et\u00fbna dil\u00ea min<\/em> (Oven of my heart)<\/p><p>The song \u201cYan mirin yan Diyarbekir\u201d was banned in Turkey.<\/p><p>He was beloved by fans worldwide for his courage and his artistry.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div
