In those years he also designed and produced works of stained glass, for sites including a TV building, a hospice, a town hall, and several hotels. \u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4042 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/oldsite\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened-279x300.jpg\" alt=\"Contes Kurdes\" width=\"279\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened-279x300.jpg 279w, https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened-953x1024.jpg 953w, https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened-768x826.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened-1429x1536.jpg 1429w, https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/contes-kurdes-lightened.jpg 1905w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 279px) 100vw, 279px\" \/>He moved to Paris and in 1990-91 created stained glass windows for the Saint Bernard glass factory. In 1992-93 he earned a BFA at the University of Paris VIII and the following year wrote a master\u2019s thesis on &#8220;stained glass and modern art.\u201d Starting in 1995 he taught a stained glass workshop at the Universities of Paris VI and VII. \u00a0In 2002 he wrote his doctoral thesis on &#8220;The Emergence of the Notion of Constraint in Art.\u201d<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">View his paintings and stained glass work <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artmajeur.com\/ziya?view=grid&amp;collections%5B%5D=1043725\">here<\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A few years ago he wrote down some of the Kurdish folk tales that his mother had told him in Zazak\u00ee. He collected 27 of them into a book (in French).\u00a0 It was published in 2021 by \u00c9ditions L\u2019Harmattan called <em>Contes Kurdes de Dersim\u2014Sanik\u00ea Kirmanciya D\u00easim\u00ee.<\/em><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many of the stories are mythological tales, recounting fights between dragons or evil giants that are inspired by the dualist Zoroastrian religion, which is based on the battle between good and evil. Other stories are animal fables, and still others are tales of tragic love such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nykcc.org\/oldsite\/oldsite\/\/mem-u-zin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">M\u00eam \u00fb Z\u00een<\/a>.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In May 2023 \u00a0book <a href=\"https:\/\/kurdistan-au-feminin.fr\/2023\/05\/07\/paris-exposition-annie-kouyoumdjian-ziya-aydin\/?fbclid=IwAR2Ts5aLHvPg_wYIQWTDJd8aCacQCMQ0tZ7HUh8G7v1tYcBplDLU68xSNoI\">signing<\/a> in conjunction with an exhibition of his work was held at the Society of French Poets.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ziya Aydin, painter and glass master Ziya Aydin (1954- )\u00a0is a Kurdish painter and master stained glass artist living in France.
