On February 1 the band Koma Amed announced that they are reunited and released an acoustic version of the song “\u00cavare” on YouTube<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>

Koma Amed was founded in 1988 by medical students from Ankara and Hacettepe universities in Ankara. The original members\u00a0 were Ahmet Kaya, Fikri Kutlay, Rohat Kutlay, Evd\u0131lmelik \u015eexbekir, G\u00fcl\u015fen \u00c7etin, Sava\u015f \u00c7akmak, and Mustafa Kart. They performed Kurdish songs and contempoarary folk music in a folk-jazz style. Koma Amed was one of the first bands to be called Kom (\u201cband\u201d in Kurdish) in the 1990s.<\/p>

In 1990 they released their first album, Kul\u00eelka Azad\u00ee,<\/em> which was banned.<\/p>

In 1993 the group moved to Istanbul and worked at the Mesopotamia Culture Center.\u00a0<\/p>

In 1997 they released their album Derg\u00fb\u015f<\/em> to great success, selling over 400,000. It is their best-known album and was very influential. But afterward some members had to seek asylum in Germany, and the band broke up.<\/p>

The members of the new band are The band members are Serhat \u00c7arnewa, S\u00fcleyman \u00c7arnewa, Memo G\u00fcl, and Mazlum Rew\u015fen.<\/p>
