"Belkî Sibê" by Alexis Daluomis
The film Belkî Sibê will be screened live via Zoom at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, January 30, on Drop Site.
Belkî Sibê is a documentary made by a volunteer soldier who spent eighteen months in war and revolution in Rojava or North-East Syria. Alexis Daloumis participated in the International Freedom Battalion during the advance and victory of the Syrian Democratic Forces against ISIS, from July 2016 (Battle of Manbij) until the end of 2017 (liberation of Raqqa and demise of the Islamic Caliphate). The film depicts the military life and battles on the front lines, as well as the civil life at the rear and the social transformation attempted by the Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria. In both fields, the role of women’s liberation and empowerment is prominent.
